St. Luke's Church Feeding Programme resumed in July 2023, serving breakfast to seniors after Wednesday services. The number of recipients grew from 23 to 166 by December. The program, supported by donations from companies like Hardware and Lumber, also distributes grocery packages, including over 190 care packages in December's Dorcas distribution.


Mission

The mission of St. Luke's Church Feeding Programme is to provide nourishment and support to vulnerable individuals, particularly seniors, through regular meal services and grocery distributions. The program aims to foster a sense of community, offer physical sustenance, and demonstrate Christian compassion by addressing the needs of the less fortunate.


How to join  St. Luke's Church Feeding Programme as a volunteer or participant, follow these steps:


As a Volunteer:
  1. Contact the Church: Reach out to St. Luke’s Church to express your interest in volunteering for the Feeding Programme.
  2. Attend an Orientation: Participate in an orientation session or speak with a team member to understand the roles and responsibilities involved.
  3. Volunteer for Meal Preparation/Distribution: Help with cooking, serving meals, or distributing groceries to seniors and other participants.
  4. Offer Specific Skills: If you have expertise in social work, fundraising, or logistics, offer your skills to enhance the program.


As a Participant:
  1. Attend the Program: Come to St. Luke’s Church on Wednesday mornings after the Holy Eucharist to participate in the breakfast service (8:30 am–10:00 am).
  2. Inquire About Grocery Distribution: Ask about receiving grocery packages, especially during special distributions like the Dorcas distribution in December.
  3. Contact the church directly for specific details on how to get involved.
  4. Common outreach initiatives and projects of St. Luke's Church Feeding Programme include:
  5. Weekly Breakfast Service: Serving breakfast to seniors and those in need every Wednesday morning after the Holy Eucharist, providing both physical nourishment and community connection.
  6. Grocery Distribution: Distributing grocery items and care packages, including monthly packages from partners like Hardware and Lumber, to individuals in need and St. Luke’s Home for the Aged.
  7. Dorcas Distribution: An annual event where over 190 needy individuals receive grocery and care packages, particularly during the Christmas season.
  8. Food for the Poor Partnership: Collaborating with Food for the Poor to receive grocery packages for distribution to vulnerable church members and community residents.
  9. Social Work Assistance: Plans to include social work services to provide additional support and care for the recipients, ensuring they receive holistic aid.
  10. Corporate Partnerships: Working with corporate sponsors like Hardware and Lumber, CARIMED, and Massy Distribution to secure food donations and supplies for the program.
