Love God and Love Your Neighbour

TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

PROPER 25

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we continue our celebration of 150 years of ministry at St. Luke's Church, this week's Gospel reminds us of the foundation upon which our parish has stood for generations: love.

When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, he replied: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind" and "You shall love your neighbour as yourself." These two commandments remain the heart of Christian discipleship.

For a century and a half, St. Luke's has sought to live out this calling through worship, service, fellowship, and outreach.  As we give thanks for our past, may we also renew our commitment to loving God wholeheartedly and serving our neighbours faithfully.

Living the Gospel This Week

•                   Spend time in daily prayer and thanksgiving.

•                   Reach out to someone who may be lonely or in need.

•                   Perform a simple act of kindness in Christ's name.

•                   Pray for our church as we mark 150 years of God's faithfulness.

Gracious God, we thank you for 150 years of your presence and blessing among the people of St. Luke's. Renew us in your love and strengthen us to serve our community with faith, hope and compassion. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Anniversary Thought

150 years ago, our forebears answered Christ's call to love God and neighbour. Today, we rejoice in their legacy and commit ourselves to carrying that mission into the future.

May God continue to bless St. Luke's Church and all who worship here.

Yours in Mission,

Patrick +
