A Christmas Message
My sisters and brothers,
Christmas is not just a season of symbols - it is the very embodiment of hope, peace, joy and love. These qualities are at the heart of the Incarnation.
As individuals and as a church facing challenges, the Christmas story offers us comfort and healing. It reminds us that, even in times of anxiety and uncertainty, God’s promise remains true.
The narrative unfolds against a backdrop of social, political, and economic hardship, yet the angel’s words to Mary ring out: “With God nothing shall be impossible.” Let us hold on to this beautiful truth and believe in God’s power to do more than we can ask or imagine. Christmas is a celebration of possibilities and of God’s creative power to transform and save.
At the centre of this celebration, stands the humble manger, where Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus figured. This simple scene is a universal symbol of Christmas, reminding us that God’s love was revealed, not in grandeur, but in humility and vulnerability. The manger draws people of every nation and background to its message: that hope is born in unexpected places, and that peace and love are offered to all. As we reflect on the manger, let it inspire us to welcome God’s presence into our own lives and to share his love with others.
On behalf of my family, I wish you the joy of the Lord as your strength, the peace of God in anxious moments, love that flows gently, yet abundantly, and hope that springs eternal in your heart.
Have a blessed Christmas.
Yours in hope, peace, joy and love,
Patrick +
